Celebrating National School Meals Week: How Derbyshire Schools Are Serving Up Success
Derbyshire Catering Service proudly joined colleagues across the country to celebrate National School Meals Week, an annual campaign led by LACA – The School Food People. This initiative shines a spotlight on the vital role that nutritious school meals play in supporting children’s health, wellbeing, and learning.
As part of the celebrations, Joe Wilson, Director for Education and Inclusion, visited Whittington Green School, where he was joined by Joanne Davidson, Head of Service, head teacher Tracey Burnside, and pupils to mark the occasion. The visit highlighted the commitment of our teams to providing high-quality meals that make a real difference in the classroom.
Meanwhile, Ellie Houlston, Director of Public Health, joined students and staff at Chinley Primary School, reinforcing the message that healthy eating is key to lifelong wellbeing.
Speaking about the campaign, Jo Davidson said:
“Our teams work tirelessly to make sure every child feels welcome at the dining table. National School Meals Week allows us to showcase the passion and professionalism behind the service and remind families that there is always something on the menu for every child.”
National School Meals Week is more than just a celebration—it’s a reminder of the dedication and care that goes into every plate served. By providing balanced, nutritious meals, we help children thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
